I played this song in Brooklyn last December and when the chorus came, some girl in the bar shouted “ooooohhhhhh, fuck you asshole” and pointed at me. She was really pissed off about this song! Still I think that Saunderson did a one hell of a job with this remix.

Alice Echols: Hot Stuff; Disco and the Remaking of American Culture

Although PPBs are not fancy swots, sometimes it’s good to read something, especially if the book is about disco. I just got this fella from the mail and I have to say there’s some promising shit innit. Echols examines disco as a reformer of different identities, eg. hetero/gay masculinity, black/white femininity, etc. I’ve read only about 20 pages though but as I said, it’s looking good.
